A CANCER-stricken Timperley mum has made a heartfelt plea for Messenger readers to back a £50,000 appeal to enable her to have specialist treatment.

Mother-of-two Alison Rolfe, aged 50, was diagnosed with a rare form of bowel cancer in October last year.

Since diagnosis she has undergone chemotherapy and two major operations.

Alison was initially given the all-clear after the second operation but four days later was told the cancer was still present.

Alison, who last week was given the devastating prognosis by doctors that she only has weeks to live, told Messenger: "That was very hard. I have not stopped crying since."

She believes that treatment at the specialist centre in Hallwangen is her best hope.

A fundraising drive that Messenger highlighted when it was launched late last year is almost halfway to the £50,000 total needed.

And Alison and her friends and family are appealing for people to back the fund.

She said: "I would say to people that this could be your mum or your sister.

"I have two youngish children aged 24 and 21.

"I want to be there and see them get married and have children."

Alison needs to raise £50,000 for the assessment, travel and to start the immunotherapy treatment.

Family friend, Alexander Young, appealed for people to support her: "This clinic is her lifeline.

"She is the loveliest person, she is always there for everybody, and always has s smile on her face.

"She lights up a room just by being there.

"She is a beautiful person and a pleasure to be with.

"Please give her the best chance she can have."

Alison, a sales administrator, is married to Darren, 50, and the couple have two children – 24-year-old Liam and Chelsea, 21.
