LANCASHIRE County Cricket Club has selected the same company behind the Hotel Football build to construct the new £12 million Hilton Garden Inn hotel at the Emirates Old Trafford ground.

The project, which represents the final major piece of the Emirates Old Trafford redevelopment, has been entrusted to Warrington-based Galliford Try Building North West.

Boasting 150-bedrooms, the four star hotel will replace the existing Old Trafford Lodge and mirrors the design of The Point which sits on the other side of the Pavilion.

The five-storey hotel will carry the Hilton Garden Inn branding and be operated by Lancashire County Cricket Club under franchise.

Hotel rooms facing onto the pitch will have floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall glazing, with access to a balcony so guests can enjoy the view on match days.

It will also include a restaurant, bar, the Pavilion Pantry serving all-day snacks, and a fitness centre.

Welcoming the new appointment, Jim Parker, Managing Director for Galliford Try Building North West, said: “We are delighted to have been selected for this high-profile project at such a significant landmark for Trafford Borough and the North West. Our expertise in both the hotel and sports stadia sectors has put us ahead of the competition this time and we look forward to working with Lancashire County Cricket Club to produce top-class facilities and further enhance this iconic ground.”

Galliford Try Building North West was tasked with the construction of Hotel Football, which opened in 2015. It also has a strong track record in cricket ground redevelopment, having completed the new stand at Edgbaston in 2011 and the new pavilion and residential development at Gloucestershire’s Nevill Road ground in 2014.
