A BOY was punched in the face and had sharp object held to his throat after being cornered by a gang of 40 youths in Sale at the weekend.

A group of friends were in Worthington Park on Saturday, October 8, when they were approached by a huge group of teens at around 6.30pm.

The youths challenged the friends to a fight. One of the boys refused and walked away but he was followed by the group, who threw sticks at him.

The victim was cornered by the gang on Clarendon Crescent, where one of the youths punched him on the forehead and another held a sharp object to his neck.

The victim managed to escape and fortunately suffered no injuries.

Police are searching for the people responsible and enquiries are ongoing.
