THE only bank in Partington is to go from being opened five days a week to just three – and reducing its opening hours for the remaining days.

RBS will be implementing changes to its Central Road branch from June 5.

The bank currently opens from 9.15am to 4.45pm, Monday through Friday, but this will change to 10am to 4pm, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

RBS said that customers will be offered alternative ways to bank with them, including using the current ATM, visiting the nearest branch, in Urmston, which is 4.8 miles away, or banking at the Post Office, in Hall Lane.

RBS said it has reached an agreement with the Post Office, which is 0.3 miles away from the branch, so that customers can pay money in, take money out, check their balance and get business coinage.

The bank will be writing to its customers in advance of the changes.

An RBS spokesperson said: “We know that not all of our customers are comfortable or familiar with using online or mobile banking, so we have provided focused training for our Branch teams who will support our customers with digital skills coaching.

“We are committed to following the UK Government protocol on significant opening hour changes, and we have made these decisions following careful consideration of a wide range of factors including branch usage and the alternative ways our customers can bank with us locally.”
