Executive councillor Jonathan Coupe said he was delighted to see such an array of events available throughout the week, which he was sure local people would not only enjoy but benefit hugely from.

"The council and its partners remain totally committed to making sure by working together we support all our local communities, provide advice, information and most importantly opportunities for local people to get involved in activities.

"By doing this we are continuing to build on the strength which exists within our communities, encourage people to work together, support each other and help improve their local area. This can happen by efforts to tackle anti social behaviour, making sure people have sufficient crime and other safety advice, or just by organising events where people can join together, have fun and celebrate their local area.

"It is good to see so many local people, groups, partners and other organisations getting involved in the Partington Winter Festival which I know will provide loads of information, volunteering opportunities, advice sessions and most of all chance to join together and have fun."
