POLICE are hoping to track down a potential witness after an elderly woman was robbed by a ‘Good Samaritan’ as she ‘helped’ her get off a tram.
On Tuesday May 2 at around 1pm, a pensioner was robbed at Navigation Road Metrolink Station in Altrincham.
The victim was assisted off the tram by a woman who spotted her struggling but she took advantage of the elderly woman’s vulnerability and stole her purse from her handbag.
A woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released pending further investigation.
Police are now appealing for a man who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
The man, who is not linked to the offence, got onto the Manchester-bound tram at the Navigation Road station around the time the incident occurred.
