ALTRINCHAM has been named the second best place to bring up a child in the UK.
Property specialist Leaders has revealed its top five places to raise a family and Altrincham has pipped Sevenoaks and Chichester to the post, coming in at second.
First place went to the spa town of Cheltenham.
Explaining the choice, Leaders stated: “Schools are the number one reason to move your family to Altrincham. The town, part of the sophisticated commuter belt just south of Manchester, is home to a number of high-performing institutions.
“Many people choose to buy a home in certain streets several years in advance just to ensure their children secure places in their chosen primary school. Altrincham is connected to Manchester via the Metrolink, so commuting to the city is incredibly easy.”
Kevin Shaw, national sales director at property specialist Leaders, says: “There are plenty of things to look for not only in a family home, but in the area in which you choose to bring up your children.
“Great schools, low crime levels, plenty of green and open spaces, access to childcare services, a range of local amenities and a good selection of suitable housing are all likely to be priorities. Working with a local property expert can help you to find your dream home.”
