HILLS' Bakery in Hale will be celebrating in style this Easter after reaching a major milestone.

The company has been baking bread for Hale residents for 100 years.

To mark the centenary, the Ashley Road bakery will kick off a fundraising campaign for children’s charity MedEquip4Kids.

It will be donating 5p to the charity from every hot cross bun sold during Easter week.

And starting on Easter Saturday, April 7, customers can enjoy a complimentary tea, coffee or orange juice and a taste of Mary Hill’s original shortbread, available every first Saturday of the month from 2pm to 4pm, until the anniversary month in October.

Janet Hill, of Hills' Bakery, said: “We’re so proud to have reached this milestone, and I’d like to pass on my thanks to all of our loyal customers who have supported us for so long.”

Rose Franks, community fundraiser for MedEquip4Kids, said: “We’d like to thank Hills Bakery for choosing MedEquip4Kids to benefit from the birthday celebrations. We’re proud to be associated with such a institution, and we’d like to wish the Hill family and all their staff a very happy 100th birthday.”
