TRAFFORD AC’s U15 star Jerell Marchan completed a memorable season in style by winning a national title with a UK best jump.
Competing in the England Athletics U15/U17 championships at Bedford International Stadium, the Stretford athlete jumped 6.56m to pip leader Alex Law of Havering in the final round to take top spot in the national rankings for his age group.
Just days later Jerell, 14, who is coached by Tom Cullen and goes to Blessed Thomas Holford in Altrincham, added to his medal tally after competing in the North West Combined Events championship at Wigan a few days later. The event features a combination of sprint hurdles, long and high jumps, shot putt and 800m, Jerell comfortably finished first to move to number two in the UK rankings at his level.
