PUPILS at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls have achieved their best ever GCSE results.

More than 90 per cent of the exams taken at the Cavendish Road school were awarded an A* or A grade and 98.5 per cent got an A* to B.

All pupils achieved five GCSEs graded A* to C, including English and Maths, and 60.5 per cent were awarded A*.

29 pupils achieved straight A*s in all their GCSEs, 25 of whom took nine exams and four - Rahaf Abdoun-Machaal, Natalie Charlesworth, Elmyra Chinje and Louise Han - who took 10 subjects.

Headmistress, Dana Ross-Wawrzynski said: “These results are quite stunning and reflect the hard work of the girls and the dedication of their teachers in striving for the very best outcomes for their pupils.

“The governors and I are so proud, not only of our girls’ academic achievements, but also of their many and varied extra-curricular successes.

“Every year we think that our previous results cannot possibly be bettered, but once again our girls have proved us wrong!”

The results follow last week’s excellent A level results and round off what has been a triumphant year for the school, culminating in the awarding of the coveted Teaching School status.
