STUDENTS at Wellacre Academy in Urmston are beginning a new series of lessons this month - designed to equip them with the life skills they need for life outside school.
The aim of the learning programme, known as RESPECT, is to develop skills ranging from ambition to resilence.
Lessons will take place every two weeks and the programme has been developed by Wellacre staff member Sinéad Hosty who will also be leading the programme.
She said: “It has never felt more important to equip our students with a multitude of skills, including soft skills which employers are known to look for. This is to ensure that they are fully armed when they leave Wellacre Academy to enable them to reach their true potential and experience every success. The curriculum is vast and varied and we hope that our students will really enjoy their lessons and the opportunities they are afforded."
The lessons incorporate subjects including religious and ethical studies, personal, social and health education, careers and citizienship and tuition.
Wellacre is a caring school and recently helped secure a £3,000 grant for Derian House. The children's hospice supports families before and after the death of a child.
