FIREFIGHTERS took part in a celebration at Sale Community Fire Station to mark Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
There was traditional music and an Indian style buffet at the event in the station community room on Saturday, November 23.
The event was attended by Trafford Shankh – a local Hindu community group set up but Yogesh Virmani three years ago – as well as firefighters from white watch and current and former station managers Val Hussain and Paul Duggan.
Station manager Hussain said: “The group have been using the fire station community room for its committee meetings for the last 12 months and we were more than happy for them to hold a small celebration and to get involved.
“All our fire stations are open to the public and events like this are a nice way of getting to know the community groups that use them on a regular basis – on this occasion helping to develop our relationship with the Hindu community.”
