A NEW scheme allowing customers to purchase coach tickets at the same time as buying stamps and travel money was endorsed by the MP for Wythenshawe and Sale East last week.

Paul Goggins, who has represented the constituency since 1997, spoke out after National Express teamed up with the Post Office to sell the travel company's fares across their 11,000 outlets.

The Labour politician said the partnership is 'great news' for Post Office branches and the residents who rely on them in Sale and Wythenshawe.

He added: "Anything that increases the services on offer at our local Post Offices is good news for our community.”

With approximately a third of National Express' journeys going to airports, the UK's largest coach provider claim it will save people from making multiple transactions - as they will now be able to purchase tickets straight to the terminal along with travel insurance and foreign currency.

Tom Stables, Managing Director of UK Coach, said: “This is a partnership that quite literally opens doors across the UK and Europe for Post Office customers.

"It is remarkable people can now walk into Post Office branches UK-wide and take advantage of affordable coach travel."
