A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was hit by a car in Davyhulme.
Police were called to Canterbury Road just after 9.45pm on October 27, where they found the injured man.
He was taken to hospital with critical injuries, where he remains.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and remains in police custody for questioning.
Det Insp Richard Eales, from the Major Incident Team, said: "From the information we have received, we believe there was an altercation earlier, where another vehicle had been damaged on Tiverton Road.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the altercation or who witnessed the collision to come forward.
“We are particularly keen to speak to people who were in or around the Hartford Road, Tiverton Road and Canterbury Road areas."
