A TEENAGE girl was stalked and then sexually assaulted as she walked her dog in Stretford.

The 16-year-old was on Moss Vale Road at about 10.30pm on September 30, when she noticed a man walking behind her.

He tried to strike up a conversation and his comments quickly became offensive and inappropriate.

When the girl turned onto Barton Road, the man then touched her inappropriately and the girl shouted at him, asking him to go away.

She carried on walking and, moments later, she turned round to find the offender had exposed himself.

The inappropriate comments continued, but the offender then stopped following the girl after she again told him to go away.

The offender is described as being white, about 6ft 2in, in his early 20s and spoke with a local accent. He had a medium, muscular build, dark hair and stubble and was wearing a black hooded top.

Det Con Andrew Warren said: "The victim did not suffer any physically injury however she is badly shaken up.

"We are working hard to identify the offender since this happened. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or knows who is responsible to call the police.

"Perhaps you have overheard someone talking or boasting about this incident, if so please contact us in complete confidence.

"Incidents of this nature are rare in Trafford."
