Schools in Trafford are being encouraged to join up with the Walking Bus programme to help keep children healthy.

The scheme aims to get more children walking to and from schools by providing a safe environment for pupils.

Outdoor clothing specialists Regatta provide children with fluorescent waistcoats and, with the help of volunteers and Trafford City Council, hope to reduce congestion on the roads while providing children with valuable exercise.

Urmston based company Regatta also support the Trafford Schools Meal Week which aims to eduacte children about eating a balanced and nutritious diet.

Schools currently taking part include St Mary's C of E Primary School in Davyhulme.
