A SRETFORD junior school enjoyed a week of activities hosted by Trafford Centre for Independent Living as part of Equalities Week.
Children from Victoria Park Junior School were treated to British Sign Language taster sessions, gymnasium activities and ways of learning appropriate language for disability.
It proved to be a successful day for the 240 pupils from Years Three to Six who took part, with the emphasis being on learning about disability and independent living.
Matthew Barnes, information and learning manager for Trafford Centre for Independent Living, said: “Equalities Week presented a fantastic opportunity for us to link up with Victoria Park Junior School to deliver a series of tailor-made sessions designed to empower children to understand disability and the access needs of disabled people and to encourage them to challenge poor access, perceived barriers and inappropriate language.”
