YOUNG medics from St Ambrose College were given a master class in key hole surgery by one of the country's leading exponents of paediatric testicular surgery.

As part of the Hale Barns Catholic grammar school's Biology Society, young scientists were shown just what can be achieved through the modern surgical technique by Dr. David Keene, a specialist registrar in paediatric surgery working at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Dr. Keene said: “ I wanted to grab tnbe pupils' interest by focusing on the problems affecting the normal anatomy of the testicle and how key-hole surgery is used in this context. The aim was to pass on this enthusiasm for innovation to these pupils and hen encourage them to develop the skills which are required for key hole surgery.”
