BUSINESS minister Sajid Javid has praised Trafford for becoming the ‘fastest growing economy in Greater Manchester’ – with 3,870 new professional services jobs forecast for the borough over the next four years.

Trafford is set to play host to the Trafford Business Expo 2016 at Old Trafford next month and MP Javid has mooted Trafford as a prime example of a booming business district.

Greater Manchester is in the top ten fastest growth areas in the UK for professional services according to experts at Oxford Economics, with a 14 per cent hike expected over the next four years. Trafford expected to grow even faster at 15 per cent. This would mean 3,870 new jobs in the sector by 2020.

MP Javid said: “Trafford really is leading the way across Greater Manchester when it comes to business and will play an important part in the Northern Powerhouse.

“Conservative council leader Sean Anstee is doing a first rate job and showing what a forward thinking council can achieve, helping to attract business and growth to the region.”

The Trafford Business Expo 2016 will take place on June 7 and is designed to showcase the array of companies based and trading in Trafford and further afield across Greater Manchester.

Hundreds of businesses are expected to attend and it is one of the region’s largest business exhibitions.

Trafford Council leader Cllr Sean Anstee said: “It is well known that Trafford is the economic powerhouse of Greater Manchester, with the most resilient economy in the North West.

“The council’s economic growth team works hard to attract inward investment, seek new businesses and retain existing employers across a diverse range of industries.”
