THE UK division of Gold Thread, the US-based skin rejuvenation specialist, is expanding - opening a Harley Street, London, clinic to compliment its original treatment centre in Sale.

Gold Thread uses an advanced version of a treatment first pioneered in the 1960s, and which involves placing thin threads of high-purity gold under the skin to gradually remove wrinkles and looseness.

"Botox is temporary; surgery is often drastic, and recovery can take weeks or even months - and one doesn't have to research far to discover the risks if something goes wrong with cosmetic surgery," said Irina Gorianova of Gold Thread UK.

"The cost of gold thread-based treatment is considerably less than surgery, and the general opinion amongst the cosmetic treatment community is that it is highly effective as a solution because it is discreet in every way - both in the treatment, and in the gradual improvements it generates.

"But this sort of treatment is not just cosmetic in a beauty or enhancement sense - it is also used in situations where people have lost confidence because they feel their looks have been affected by, for instance, substantial weight loss, or because they have suffered stress, which can also deeply affect appearance."
