by Najeeb Rehman A YOUNG actress from Flixton will appear in CBBC’s newest children’s drama, All at Sea.

Maia King, 14, will appear in two episodes of the 13 part series which centres around an imaginative 10-year-old boy name Charlie whose family uproots from London to run a B&B in Scarborough.

Maia, who attends Urmston Grammar School, plays a character called Jenny Leith, part of the family that lives next door.

Filmed on location in Scarborough and in studios in Wythenshawe, Maia is understandably excited about her first featured television role.

She said: “I love the filming for this CBBC comedy drama, it’s so exciting and I’m so grateful for getting the part, I feel I am a very lucky girl.

“My aim is to be on TV as much as possible – I’d love to appear in a period drama and would definitely like to be on the big screen one day.”

Maia has spent four year attending Saturday morning classes at the award-winning Footlight Theatre School in Stretford.

Footlights’ manager, Jo Fisher, said: “Maia is a very talented performer; she achieved a Distinction in her LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Drama) exam last year and it’s wonderful that she’s enjoying this success.

“Footlights has a strong relationship with CBBC, built on the quality of the actors we are able to put forward.”

All at Sea is due to be aired this autumn.
