Trafford residents are being urged to go ALL' out to beat thieves this autumn by remembering Alarms, Locks and Lights.
This simple three-point message is a reminder to put the Alarm on, Lock all doors and windows and leave a Light on when leaving your home empty.
Chf Supt Janette McCormick, Trafford divisional commander, said: "We have worked hard over the last year to make people in Trafford aware of how important it is to secure their homes against burglars.
"This has led to a three per cent fall in burglaries, which equates to 54 fewer victims. As the clocks go back, evenings become darker and create ideal opportunities for thieves.
"By remembering to apply the simple ALL out message every time you leave your property, you will make it less attractive as a target for burglars."
Although burglaries in Trafford have steadily decreased over the past 12 months, there's usually an increase in break-ins at this time of the year as the evenings become darker.
Posters displaying the ALL message are being displayed in public places to help raise awareness amongst homeowners so they do not fall victim to crime.
