A MAN sustained three breaks to his jaw after he was assaulted in Urmston.

The victim, aged 21, was walking towards the town centre when he was approached by a man who got out of a black car on Higher Road.

The offender confronted the victim and then punched him to the left side of his face, causing him to fall to the floor.

The attacker got back into the car and was driven away.

The man was treated in hospital for three breaks to his jaw.

The offender was described as white, in his late 20s, about 5ft 8ins tall and of a stocky build.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Liz Robinson, of Trafford CID, said: “We do not know what the motive was for this attack, it appears to be totally random and unprovoked.

“Regardless of motive, the man suffered three breaks to his jaw which needed hospital treatment and he is understandably anxious to understand what possessed this man to launch such an assault and see justice done.

“I would therefore appeal to anyone who either witnessed this attack or who has information about what happened to come forward.”

Anyone with information about the incident, which happened between midnight and 12.30am on March 10, should call police on 0161 856 7657 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
