Avalanche, which opens on Tuesday, is dubbed ‘the ultimate experience for exhilaration enthusiasts’.

Faster than Usain Bolt, more forcful than an Olympic bobsleigh and as heavy as a polar bear, I was invited along for a sneak peak yesterday (Wednesday).

Chill Factore has spent months conducting late night testing under a veil of secrecy, only announcing to the media the impending arrival of an unknown ‘snow monster’.

Avalanche is a white knuckle snow sphereing experience which sees riders harnessed into a four-metre ball and rolled down a snow slope, reaching speeds of 30mph.

Kitted out in a fetching flight suit, I was strapped inside an elephant-sized sphere and rolled down the 180-metre indoor ski slope, the longest in the UK.

I emerged triumphant but thoroughly dazed and confused after what I was told was 10 revolutions but felt like a lot more.

Chill Factore chief executive Morwenna Angove said: “We wanted to create a brand new, exhilarating and totally unique experience that nobody else in the world can compete with. We’ve certainly done that with Avalanche.”

Riders are sent down, either solo or in pairs, in near pitch black conditions with the giant ball specially designed to withstand sub-zero temperatures.

Those taking part are then subjected to a gravitational force equivalent to an Olympic bobsleigh.

Although the craze of zorbing, riding inside a ball on grass, has grown in recent years, Avalanche is the first time sphereing has been done on snow.
