Trafford's community television station - Lets Go Global - has launched an appeal for production volunteers.

The internet TV station - launched in April 2003 and supported by Trafford council - currently broadcasts a fortnightly magazine show live from its Old Trafford studio, on a Thursday evening, from 7pm.

The channel is looking for people to help out and come up with ideas for the sports, news, entertainment and community sections of the programme.

In return Lets Go Global will provide volunteers with training and equipment support said community broadcast producer Claire Hoang.

She explained: "We're looking for people who have free time during the week and are interested in making short films or documentaries about their community.

"In return we'll give them the training and technical support they need. Enthusiasm is more important than current technical skills - we'll help people do that.

"People sometimes can't turn up because of their job, coursework or child care commitments which is fair enough; but that's why we need more volunteers."

She added: "It's a real team effort to get the show out. It's fantastic because live broadcast is the hardest thing to do.

"We're working with volunteers who literally will be picking up a camera within two weeks so what they're doing is really good; in fact it's amazing when you think about it."

If you're interested in becoming a volunteer phone 0161 848 8786 or email claire.hoang@trafford.gov.uk
