NOW that the 6,000 good citizens of Urmston have decided the wheelie bin policy for the rest of us, perhaps Trafford council might like to extend this method of deciding further policies to the people by the people and for the people!

How about the 9,000 residents of Timperley deciding on the policy for building on green land as at Aimson Rd, the people of Altrincham deciding on town centre planning or the residents of Hale deciding on the future of the 11-plus policy.

But back to wheelie bins - and I wish to know if the council can spell out for the rest of us how much they are going to cost each, the total cost involved and the calculated pay back period instead of giving out figures for 'projected' savings plucked out of the air!

Ralph Strafford, Altrincham.
