Pelican Share the Spoils

PELICAN FC began the defence of their Altrincham Saturday League title with a Bank Holiday game against Atlantic.

Pelican made most of the chances and took the lead on 40 minutes when Steve Bennett finally broke the deadlock The lead lasted only minutes into the second before Gary Harding headed home Atlantic's equaliser, but ten minutes later Paul Lowe fired a tremendous shot into the top corner from 20 yards to restore Pelican's lead.

On 65 minutes Paul Dempsey grabbed another equaliser for Atlantic and worse was to follow for Pelican when Dempsey scored again five minutes later as his long free kick somehow sailed into the net to make it 3-2 for the visitors.

Steve Bennett came to the rescue as he prodded home from close range to make it 3-3 in the 88th minute.
