ALTRINCHAM FC has announced a link-up with an external investment partner which may see the club move to another, purpose-built stadium.

The as yet un-named partner was introduced by Sports Management company Premier Crew Sports and has pledged a substantial sum of the Moss Lane outfit.

An annoucement on a new appointment to the club's board is expected next week.

A spokesman for Premier Crew commented "Altrincham Football Club has the potential to match the achievements of their close rivals Macclesfield in reaching the Football League.

"We want to help them realise this potential."

Altrincham FC chairman Gerry Berman said "We are delighted to have been able to attract this kind of funding support.

The directors have already demonstrated their determination to build a side which can win promotion, and this investment will enable us to purse our long term objectives, including looking into the possibility of re-locating the club within the borough to a purpose built stadium."

Supporters representative Peter Read also welcomed the move.

"We have to remember that it is only three years since the club came within hours of extinction.

Any link up which helps safeguard the future of the club has to be applauded," he added.
