I RECENTLY caught the Metrolink to Bury, a town which I had not visited for more than 30 years, after being told about the wonderful market which is held there twice a week.
Not only was I impressed with the quality and choice of goods on the stalls, but the shopping mall has much to offer.
I write this to join with others who are weary of the lack of quality shops in our local town, which is awash with charity shops and is forcing more and more of us to look elsewhere when wishing to purchase clothes and other goods.
Are the powers-that-be going to wake up to this fact before Altrincham becomes a ghost town? Our 'new' market is uninspiring and uninviting, even after the renovation.
If people from other towns decide to travel to shop in Altrincham for a change of scenery there is little to encourage them to consider visiting for a second time, whereas I would have no hesitation in making a second trip to Bury.
I Caldwell, Timperley.
