BILL Crowther and Beth Allott, running for Altrincham & District Athletic Club, were first male and female competitors in the 2nd Chorley 4m road race held on Wednesday 2nd June.
In very overcast conditions, ideal for running Bill fought off a strong challenge from Salford Harriers Ken Chapman to finish in an excellent time of 19 mins 46 secs.
Beth Allot was also outstanding, completing the course in a time of 22mins 25 secs.
This was the fastest time on the course for a female athlete this year beating Wigan Phoenix Lisa Heyes time from the previous race by 32 secs.
