SPORTING youngsters at an Altrincham school may be on the verge of a new arena in which to strut their stuff.

For, with Wimbledon fortnight just around the corner, Altrincham Grammar School for Boys wants to upgrade its tennis facilities.

The Marlborough Road school is asking Trafford planners to sanction the laying out of three new courts within the school grounds.

The courts will be surrounded by 12 feet high fencing, if given consent, and the change will also involve new car parking arrangements at the school - with the construction of two new car parks and a link road.

The scheme is among the latest batch of applications lodged with Trafford Borough Council - details of which are now available for inspection during normal office hours at Trafford Direct 2000 at Sale Town Hall, Tatton Road.

In addition, plans for south area, except Sale Moor and Brooklands, can be seen between 2pm and 3.30pm tomorrow (Friday) at Altrincham town hall.

Representations on any plan can be made in writing to Angus McIntyre, acting director of planning, at PO Box 12, Trafford Town Hall, before Monday, June 14.
