AN ELDERLY resident of Hale says she fears for her life following an arson attack on her motor home.

For it is not the first time that Kathleen Mackey has been targetted.

The 70-year-old, who has lived in Meadow Close for the past 10 years, has had two previous motor homes vandalised - and she believes somebody has a vicious vendetta against her after many other problems at her home over the past few years.

Kathleen told SAM: "This latest incident has really shaken both me and my husband up because the fire could so easily have spread to the house. It is just terrifying to think that someone could do such a despicable thing."

Kathleen's son Christopher was on the scene to help call the fire brigade, who fought the blaze for almost an hour late last Friday.

He says: "It could have been a lot worse and we are just thankful that it wasn't. But it is still annoying us that we seem to have been targeted by someone with an axe to grind when it is hard to understand why.

"We keep ourselves to ourselves and, as far as I am aware, have never had any major disagreements with anyone."

The family has been in touch with local MP Graham Brady and councillors about the situation.

Kathleen says: "We have no evidence to suggest who is behind the attacks but just want it to come to an end."

Police have been around to investigate the blaze and are appealing for anyone who may know anything about the fire to contact them at Altrincham on 856-7525. Or, alternatively, call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800-555111.
