THE TRAGIC death of a computer whizzkid has spurred his Urmston family to help a leading centre for epilepsy sufferers.

Andrew Hill died three years ago after suffering an epileptic fit.

The 24 year-old - who had a high-flying computer job in Grimsby - died of Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome, five years after he began suffering from epilepsy.

Since then his parents, David and Tricia, their son, David, 15, and their relations have thrown their weight behind raising cash for the David Lewis Centre in Alderley Edge, and highlighting how it helps people with epilepsy.

With the support of members of the Flixton Golf Club and the help of The Lancashire Entertainers Golfing Society, they organise a charity golf day and evening entertainment each year to raise funds for the centre. The latest event raised £1,900 - pushing the total collected by the golf days to around £5,000.

Dave (pictured above), of Spennithorne Road, - who is an entertainer and guitar teacher - says: "After Andrew's death we decided to do all we could to help the David Lewis Centre and raise its profile, because before Andrew's problems we did not know anything about it."

Sue Murphy, fundraising and PR manager at the David Lewis Centre, says: "We are so very grateful for the terrific support we have received this year from the family."

The money Gabrielle raised has been put towards equipping a sensory room in one of the children's houses and the money from the golf day will be used to refurbish the hair salon on site - a facility which is very much appreciated by our residents and goes a long way in raising their self esteem and morale.

"We would like to pass on our thanks to Flixton Golf Club, their members and all those who supported the event with their generosity and by being there on the day."
