Altrincham Aces 12 v Bradford Bulldogs 0

THE Altrincham Aces Ice hockey team completed a confident home victory last Sunday night, striding to a 12-0 win over the Bradford Bulldogs.

The Aces started the rout early, Rob Young displaying some excellent footwork to net the first marker after just 90 second play.

Two slapshot goals from defenders Pete Winstanley and Tim Dempsey made it 3-0 at the first break, and the latter continued his good work after the interval with two more strikes to complete his hat-trick.

The Bulldogs did manage to steady themselves and mount a few attacks of their own, but at the opposite end of the ice their beleaguered defence did not have the answers to the Pack's offensive firepower, Greg Allen and Ged Smith both netting to make it 7-0 at the forty minute mark.

The final session was a mere formality, although to their credit Bradford continued to battle hard and forced Chris Main in the home net to make a couple of good saves to earn his first shutout for the club.

Allen remained a thorn in th Bulldogs side to score three more goals to take his personal tally to 4+2 and the Aces into double figures, whilst there were also goals for Smith and youngster Ashley O'Leary as the Pack crusied home in the final minutes.

Aces Coach Dave Shepherd said:

"This was an accomplished rather than impressive performance from us tonight, we won well without getting into first gear, and although Bradford put up a good fight, we had enough chances to score a lot more than we did.
