FATHER of four Terry Burke is hoping the New Year will bring him the gift of life.

Fifty-seven-year-old Terry, a former stacker driver from Stretford, has for the past two years been on the waiting list for a heart transplant operation at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Four years ago he suffered a serious heart attack and a year later he had to undergo a five-in-one heart by-pass operation. But his health continued to deteriorate and doctors decided a transplant was his one remaining option.

He says: "Now I am just waiting for the call to let me know that a suitable heart is available. Some day I am sure I will get one and be able to start living my life all over again."

Terry and his wife, Brenda, have four children.
