Sunny Delight at Trafford Basketball Centre

RECORD numbers of young people turned out at Trafford Basketball centre to take part in the National Sunny Delight 3 on 3 competition.

120 teams from all over the Northwest took part in both U14 and U16 competitions and Trafford was represented in massive numbers with entries from Sale, Altrincham, Flixton, Old Trafford and Stretford.

All teams were required to play three games before going on to a Knock-Out stage which decided the winners and runners-up in each division.

These teams will go to the National Semi-Final Round at the Sheffield Arena in March.

Neil Rann and Tom Parker, both attached to Trafford Basketball Centre, dominated the U14 boys competition and the U16s were dominated by Trafford players Neill Wood and David Houston.

National League

The National league teams at the Trafford Basketball Centre continue to make a splash in National competitions.

Both the U18 and U16 teams have made it to the semi-finals of the National Cup.

The U18 have a draw against the famous Birmingham Bullets and the U16 have a difficult trip to Islington to contest their semi.

Any local youngster who wishes to join the centre and to take part in any of the Basketball activities there (playing, refereeing, coaching, table officiating) should contact Joe Forber on 01625 52767.
