Clitheroe RUFC 43 v Montell Carrington RUFC 7

MONTELL travelled all the way to Clitheroe and on their first half performance got what they deserved, nothing.

The conditions were absolutely terrible with a howling gale at Clitheroe's backs and a pitch, as per usual, deep with mud.

Even though Clitheroe scored five converted tries and a penalty in the first half the Montell defence tackled reasonably well and in fact had two chances to score themselves.

After withstanding tremendous pressures Montell broke and both scrum half Kris Lowe and No 8 Stuart Brame were stopped just short of the Clitheroe line.

In the second half it was a totally different more even match.

Both teams worked hard on a dreadful pitch and following a set scrum on the Clitheroe 22 Montell scrum half Lowe went alone through the defence and touched down.

The try was converted by stand off Dave Yates.

Clitheroe crossed for an unconverted try in the last few minutes to end the scoring.

Montell picked themselves up and fought back well in a good second half performance that will stand them in good stead for future matches.
