A UNIQUE scheme has started at a supermarket in Timperley to give slimmers a helping hand with their diets.

Iceland supermarket have linked up with the Timperley branch of the slimming club, Slimmers' World, to make it easier for dieters to find suitable food.

Following a conversation with Dawn Feldman, a dieting customer from Timperley, the supermarket manager Les Carder arranged a slimmers' evening at the store.

After consulting the Slimmers' World food guide, suitable foods at the store were marked as 'sin-free', showing slimmers that they could eat them without ruining their diet plan. They then had the chance to sample the products.

It was such a success that all Iceland stores will be arranging similar evenings." It means we don't have to look through all the ingredients to see if it's suitable."

More than 50 members of the slimming club went along to the evening to find their favourite low-fat foods.

Les said: "The evening was intended as a one-off, but we are hoping to extend it and make the food labelling a permanent feature at the store.

"I don't know of any other supermarket that offers this sort of service. It was very well received by everyone who came along, and hopefully it will become a permanent service nationwide."
