THE OLIVER'S Army fundraising drive to improve health services for children is appealing for more support to ensure it hits its target.

A separate six room section for children will be opened in Trafford General's upgraded Accident and Emergency department.

Oliver's Army is raising £10,000 to make the area as 'child friendly' as possible by providing furniture, toys and decorating the unit.

It is already a third of the way to hitting its target and has a range of other fundraising events lined up.

Organiser Angela Gray says: "We have had great support so far and everything is going really well.

"But we would like to have a little more support from the south side of the borough, particularly Sale."

Events lined up to support the fund include a charity night at the Lively Lobster on Manor Road, Sale on March 9 - tickets costing £3.50 are available from the pub or by calling Angela on 748 0017.

There is a ladies' night at O'Briens bar, in the Stretford Arndale Centre, on March 24. Tickets are £6. There is also a 'Tribute to the Stars' evening at O'Briens on April 15. Tickets are £5 - call Angela for tickets for either function.

Angela is also sending out questionnaires to give people the opportunity to put forward their views about the unit. She is appealing for a business to help her by photocopying copies of the questionnaire.

Anyone who wants to support the campaign should call Angela on 748 0017.
