URMSTON Hockey club mens 1st team could only manage a 1-1 result with Cumbrians Ulverston in a game they could have won.

On Sunday Urmston Junior Hockey Club had three players in the Lancashire U14s team who won convincing 5-1 against North Wales.

Martin Stonehouse was strong in defence, John Crossley linked well in midfield and Kevin Smyth scored himself and also kept North Wales under pressure to create scoring opportunities for the other attackers.

Other local boy and Lancashire captain Charlie Weems played a superb centre midfield role particularly in the second half with his immaculate passes to send his team to victory.
