ALTRINCHAM Kersal's Saturday opponents, Penrith, were stuck in a massive hold-up on the M6 and could not make it to Stelfox Avenue for the NWI league match.

It was left, therefore to the AKRFC Colts to maintain the winning sequence in this Cheshire Colts league match.

Under conditions unsuitable for handling, they contrived to put together some magnificent three quarter moves and it was only good Winnington Park defence which prevented a much higher try tally.

Altrincham Kersal set their stall out from the kickoff, when prop Chris Barlow made a storming run down the middle to take play into Winnington territory. And that is where it stayed for a full fifteen minutes.

The the first time that Winnington Park managed to fight their way into the Altrincham Kersal half, they were awarded a penalty which they landed.

Altrincham Kersal took the ball to the blind side from a scrum and showing good handling skills scored a try in the corner from Adam White.

The first score in the second half came when Altrincham Kersal won good ball at a line-out. Good running, passing and support play from backs and forwards brought about a try from a concerted forward drive.

Eventually, the pressure on Winnington Park told again when a loose pass was intercepted by Phil Murphy who sent the ball across the line. The final pass found Russell Cooper who scored in the corner.
