A GROUP for young girls and boys in Timperley is desperately looking for new members to keep it afloat.
For the Martin's club for youngsters aged between five and seven has just one sole regular attending at the moment.
And leader Tracy Mallett says that more kids are needed if the group is to survive.
The Martins is part of the 100-year old Church Lads and Girls Brigade and was initiated some nine years ago to offer an alternative to the brownies and beavers.
But the club based at St Catherine's Church Hall in Park Road is the first in this area and is struggling for members.
Tracy Mallett told SAM: "We only started the group recently and so are not expecting it to take off so soon.
"Nevertheless, we thought that we may have had more than just one young boy attending and we want to let parents in the area know that we are here."
The group meets every Friday between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and costs just 50p per session for each child.
Tracy added: "We have a variety of activities going on for the kids including crafts and artwork, along with nature work and fun and games.
"We are open to any local youngsters whose mum or dad can bring and we are certain that they will benefit from the experience."
Any parents who are interested in finding out more about the group can get in touch with Allen Johnson from the Church Lads and Girls Brigade on 980-4338 or alternatively pop along to one of the sessions on Friday nights.
