TIMPERLEY 2ndXI stopped the rot of six consecutive defeats by winning on Saturday,

although not without a few scares along the way.

Wood (48) and Fisher (19) took the 1st wicket to 42-1 looking rather comfortable Stuart Nicholson then hit a cultured 70 n.o. and was supported well by a few of his team-mates.

Nearly wed Graham Cornwall, 10 n.o. at the end, put on 31 partnership as Timperley finished 189/6 off 47 overs.

Timperley welcomed back Nick James from four weeks break and with a little better support, he could have turned it into a win.

His 4/30 off 19 overs was the only highlight in Timperley's attack as the visitors scored 143/7 off 53 overs Neville and Walker picked up the other wickets.

There was an early finish for Timperley 3rds against Neston as they slumped to a 6.30pm finish. Only one Timperley batsman reached double figures.

Mark Entwistle (36) scored more than half the final total as Timperley were 71 all out off just 38 overs.

Neston only took 20 overs to knock off the runs which only cost them two wickets, both taken by Coleman.
