PUPILS at a Timperley school could soon be enjoying new sports facilities after Trafford's planning committee approved plans for a new sports hall.
Green Lane High School will build the single storey sports hall near its existing gym, if the Secretary of State allows it to go ahead.
The development follows concerns expressed in the school's Ofsted report four years ago about inadequate indoor sports facilities.
The report said: "The school playing fields are not extensive and with only one gymnasium there is a lack of indoor space which restricts curriculum development in certain activities."
The school was originally intended for 450 pupils, but now accommodates more than 700. The new building could also be available for use by community groups.
Trafford's planning officers decided the school's need for new sports facilities outweighed the impact on the Green Belt area.
