DESPITE running themselves into the ground this weekend, Timperley Hockey Club's 1st team only managed to take a point from a pretty even game.
Timperley had the best of the flow of play when they conceded a penalty flick and went behind early in the first half.
The game then descended into a scrappy encounter, until in the second half Timperley had a goal disallowed, which even Warrington seemed bemused about.
This strengthened their determination to get back in the game and they soon did.
A sweetly struck corner from Rick Entwistle was neatly guided into the net by top scorer Mark Worsley, and Timperley at last found themselves back in a game they had never really been out of.
But despite an increased effort to take all three points, Timperley couldn't manage to put away the last remaining chances that came their way.
The 2nd team held third placed Bolton at 1-1 until 15 minutes from time when Bolton's experience told. Timperley's heads dropped as Bolton hammered in four in dying minutes of the game.
The 3rds threw away a 3-0 lead against Chester for a 3-3 draw.
The 4ths and 5ths had impressive wins to ease the torment a little, the 4ths won 3-1 and the 5ths beat Bolton 4-2.
Overall a weekend of very hard graft sadly saw very little achieved.
