Urmston Chess Club, travelled to Hyde to play their match with Denton at an unusual venue - one of the towns Italian Restaurants.
Urmston at the bottom of the 3rd division, fielded their strongest team, but were still no match for for the 1st division heavyweights.
Tom Morris managed a draw saving our blushes as Denton marched into round by a score 5.5 - 1.5.
Urmston are back to league action on Tuesday when East Cheshire are the visitors.
