TRAFFORD Sub-Aqua Club (TSAC) raised £2,850 for the British Heart Foundation by holding a 24-hour relay dive.
Sixteen divers from the club began the relay dive at Eccleston Delph, a flooded quarry in Chorley. The eight buddy pairs each did six dives during the period.
Two divers remained on the six-metre platform for the entire 24 hours, so each diver had to kit up and get in the water, every three-and-a-half hours.
The divers did not move from the platform, and were stationary at all times. The event started with the first two divers joining the platform at 8pm.
Chairman of TSAC, Dale Makin, said: “In 2007 our equipment officer, Phil Makin, who is my father, suffered a heart attack and thanks to the research of the British Heart Foundation and the wonders of modern technology he made a full recovery.
“The dive was a great success, and I want to say a big thank you to our sponsors ERIK's Industrial Services, GAP PR and Marketing, Hazardous Persuits, Millennium Car Care, Costco and Kellogg’s.”
