DARREN Yates, of Fairywell Road, Timperley, requested some months ago that Trafford Council consider traffic and/ or pedestrian lights at Brooklands roundabout as he felt there were no safe places to cross it.

The roundabout, accessed by Brooklands Road, Stockport Road, Shaftesbury Avenue, Altrincham Road and Brooks Drive, currently has no crossing.

The dad-of-two said: “I got no response from the council. Walking from Timperley there is no safe way to cross this very busy roundabout. The worrying part of all this is that at no point do you get the chance to consider pedestrians crossing at these junctions.

“It is of concern for me because my partner has to walk across this roundabout with my two young children to the shops. Some vehicles on very rare occasions will stop to allow us to cross. This wait can be up to 10 minutes long and if cars do stop to allow them to cross it is dangerous for other vehicles. The installation of pedestrian lights would go a long way towards improving safety.”
