PREMIER league champions Manchester United will parade through the streets of Trafford next week - but only if they retain their European crown.

Council chiefs at Trafford and Manchester have confirmed they will host a victory parade on May 28, if United beat Barcelona in the Champions League Final in Rome the previous day.

The celebratory march will leave from Manchester city centre in the late afternoon and travel into Trafford.

The decision to hold a parade comes after fans were angered when they were not given a chance to welcome the team home after last year’s European triumph.

Trafford Council's leader elect, Councillor Matt Colledge, said: "As Manchester United's home is here in Trafford and as they contribute a lot to the local economy we are delighted to be able to offer them a victory parade should they be successful on the night.

"On behalf of the council I congratulate them on their achievements so far and wish them the best of luck for the final."

Further details of the full route will be confirmed later.
