2008 has been another successful year for Timperley Brass Band which has seen it continue to achieve ever higher musical standards. This year the band has consolidated its position and continues to improve in the world rankings with the aim to get in to the top 50 brass bands worldwide in 2009 having broken into the top 100 in 2007.

Band Chairman, Gary Winson explained ‘It is remarkable how far the band has come since reforming in September 2005 if you think we started with a few players, some old instruments, little in the way of music and not even enough stands to put the music on ! There have been many highlights this year not least being crowned North West Counties Brass Band Association Champion Band of the year 2008 and performing a number of successful concerts, not least in November to help raise funds for the RNLI.’

Gary added ‘The band is now at a stage that it needs more help to keep move forward, we would like to appeal to the local community to see if anyone can assist us with sponsorship or by giving a little of their spare time. We are a self funded registered charity and could achieve so much more with some additional help, we have an exciting list of things we would like to do including recording a CD but theses will remain on a wish list without more people with different skills coming on board.’

Timperley band can be seen performing three concerts this Christmas the first on Saturday 6th December 7.30pm at Dunham Road Unitarian Chapel Altrincham tickets from 0161 928 3295 then on 12 & 13 December at the Larkhill Centre Timperley, tickets from Luxistore in Timperley Village.
